DARUL-ARQAM PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION
Our objective is to impart Islamic spiritual training along with the educational tools to achieve academic excellence.
At Darul-Arqam schools, we are committed to instilling in the students the Islamic values, habits, attitudes, ethical standards, patience and tolerance, that are characteristics of a good Muslim.
We believe in creating a learning environment where children will encounter an appreciation of their individual abilities, an awareness of their unique capabilities and the development of appreciation and respect for others.
OUR PROGRAM
Our Pre-School Program is dedicated to the gentle nurturing and education of young children. It is a place where children are cared for in a loving and respectful atmosphere, where the development of self-esteem and cultivation of a child's love for learning is top priority.
Our classrooms are truly a child's world - designed and dimensioned for your child's needs. The Montessori Method is the basis of our curriculum. In addition to the regular Montessori curriculum, we also teacher Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies. Islamic Studies is integrated into the whole curriculum so children may understand the relevance of religion in their daily lives. Our program encourages your child's growth through independence and freedom of choice.
Our staff is certified and trained to recognize your child's sensitive periods. The teachers' job is to provide both the materials and the environment which will best aid your child's development. We do feel that it is essential for all parents to be an active part of their child's community. Our goal is that we all become involved throughout the year.
THE MONTESSORI METHOD
The Montessori Method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900's. Although she was the first woman in Italy to become a doctor, she dedicated her life to the education of children. By close observation and experimentation, Dr. Montessori devised a system of education. She believed that children have an innate capacity to learn. This learning and discovery inherent in every child is best cultivated through activity and purposeful movement.
The Montessori Method will help your child become more confident, more creative. In a Montessori class, your child teaches himself through the use of specially designed Montessori Materials that are self-correcting. Because he can choose his own work and do it at his own pace, your child has many opportunities for success.

According to the Texas Education Agency (TEA), our student achievement levels rank us among public schools that earn the "Exemplary School" distinction.
The student council is an important part of the school and its governance. In the Fall of each academic year, students elect their representatives.
